Social pressure by members of one’s peer group to take a certain action, adopt certain values in order to be accepted and remain popular. Those who don’t adopt such actions and values are considered as ‘wet blanket’ (a dull or depressing person who spoils other people’s enjoyment).
Such people are not happily accepted in society and groups. To remain popular and happily accepted, affected people change their behaviors.
